When I show others how I interact with AI, the most frequent immediate comment is "Alex, you're so polite with your AI." They notice that I communicate as if working super patiently and respectfully with another coworker. And that's the point.

This journal quote about robot uprising came from a really great industry friend of mine – but as curious as that train of thought is, that's not my personal motivator to be kind.

The way I see it is, chatting with AI gives so much reinforcement behaviours – and it's an opportunity for us to practice how we want to show up for others, even for robots. So if I practice patience, respect and kindness in my communication – it makes it easier to show up that way in person as well.

We get to choose how we want to show up and how we interact – we might as well choose a kinder path.
